| PJ Natural Food Product Sdn. Bhd | JBF stands for Johor Bahru Farm /Jubilee Food Marketing. Johor Bahru Farm incorporated in 1982 was mainly set up to rear cows for the sole purpose of producing milk for the Malaysia local market. Simpang Realty is the company who initiated the formation is itself a farming company. In 1984 James Liew was asked to join the company as their managing director but was turned down. In 1985, James Liew took over 51% of Johor Bahru Farm shares and became the managing director. As the farm was not making any profit due to the lack of milk from the cows, milk had to be bought from the Malaysian Milk Collecting center (MCC). Johor Bahru Farm, a producer became a buyer and JBF decided to turn the company into a milk processing company, processing fresh milk for the local market rather then producing milk. The brand JBF fresh milk was then founded.
In 1987 Bukit Garing Dairy, a KL based fresh milk processing company which had suffered huge loses at that time, approaches JBF to merge. JBF turned down the offer and ultimately James Liew took over the entire operation in KL of Bukit Garing and set up a marketing company named Jubilee Food Marketing, which is initial JBF. This took place in March 1988 and Jubilee Food Marketing at that time was the only company selling fresh milk from Johor.
In the years to follow, demand for fresh milk increases tremendously but supply was so scarce that there is a big shortage. Susu Lembu Asli, a local company who has strong ties with the MCC has the privilege to receive more milk supply from MCC when it merged with a Dutch company named Dutch Lady. JBF too small and weak to do anything at that moment was at the verge of collapsing. James Liew the managing director took a very drastic step and twisted the company into a beverage producer and stop processing milk. JBF then started selling its fresh juices to supermarkets and disco /karaoke throughout the country and became second to none in the supply of fresh juices to such outlets.
Johor Bahru Farm eventually was sold to a Singaporean company in 1992. After the sales of Johor Bahru Farm the brand JBF became the property of Jubilee Food Marketing. Jubilee Food Marketing(JBF) then starts to expand it’s market size and increases its range of beverage products from a few varieties to all kinds of juice products. In 1997 JBF was informed of a special packaging which is a can made from pet material. It was the pet can. Stunned by the idea, JBF invested heavily in the innovation of the pet can and started a PET packaging factory in the outskirt of KL. JBF then started producing all kinds of pet bottle for which it’s most unique packaging is Pet can. It was a major seller and numerous kinds of packaging including animated packaging were then introduced into the market by JBF.
JBF then became one of the pioneer juice company’s to produce pet can and pet animated bottle. In the year 1998 JBF decided to go global and PJ Natural Food Product S/B was formed to do so. (Natural) the brand which had started from the pet can juice was the name preferred to suit the company.
PJ Natural, P for plastic and J for juice was the symbol and PJ Natural Food Product became one of the pioneer juice company to have an indoor pet plastic and canning facility in its operation. PJ Natural Food Product S/B then became the production arm for Jubilee Food Marketing. Jubilee Food is the sole distributor for all PJ Natural Food products.
PJ Natural Food Product S/B set up in 1998 started with just RM 500,000.00 paid up capital has now a total assets value excluding landed property not less then four million Ringgit Malaysia. P.J Natural has a full range of pet blowing machines and plastic injection machines producing all size of pet preform and bottles for its own needs. PJ Natural has two filling line. One operated by a fully automatic linear filler which can fill 2400 bottles an hour and another fully automatic rotary filling machine which can fill up to 6000 bottles an hour. PJ Natural has a complete range of packing and labeling machines that can enhance the company’s capacity to manage huge orders in the near future. In this year 2006, PJ Natural will be certified with HACCP and this will enable it to penetrate into the vast American and European markets including that of Australia and New Zealand. Currently PJ Natural is exporting its juice products to fourteen countries globally, India being the biggest among all. Markets such as Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Korean’s are doing fine with Bangladesh being the latest on the exports list recently.
Produce of PJ Natural includes health and energy drinks. PJ Natural also does OEM for other companies in Nonie and spiraling juice.
The present turnover of business for PJ Natural stands approx 3.5 to 4 million ringgit annually and this figure is expected to grow once the HACCP certification is acquired. With a good and well trained work force of 33 workers, PJ Natural is expected to expand its work force to above fifty in the year 2006 and it is now planning to penetrate into the Asian market such as Vietnam and Burma. PJ Natural has now penetrated into markets in the French Re Union Island and is now quite active in South Africa . To summarize, JBF has been in operation since 1985 till 2006 which is 21 years in total. With the formation of PJ Natural Food Product in 1998 to cater for the exports markets and with a experience man like James Liew at the helm, JBF and PJ Natural is expected to grow in the very near future. Currently, all operations of PJ natural and JBF are located at No. 98,99 & 100A Jalan KIP 9, Taman Perindustrian KIP with our bond store at No. 24 Jalan Tago, Taman Tago. Kepong.
