Tropical staining has been a major problem in Southeast Asian construction markets for many years, affecting most building materials such as steel, tiles, concrete, aluminium and timber.
Tropical staining occurs when dirt particles from pollution, haze and smoke are deposited on a building’s exterior, and in tropical climates, these particles are subjected to high temperatures and humidity levels causing them to bond permanently to the building’s surface. Once bonded, the particles do not wash off with subsequent rainfall.
Over a relatively short period of time, dirt particles accumulate and form ugly stains that become permanent markings, which can only be removed by scrubbing and strong detergents.
