The Tropical Group under the flagship of Tropical Consolidated Corporation Sdn. Bhd. is a confederation of a group of companies in the ASEAN region with its core business in the manufacturing of premium quality canned seafood for international market.
The history of Tropical Group is a history of achievement and growth. The Group's first canning factory under the name of Tropical Canning Corporation Sdn. Bhd. was established in 1972 by Dato' Tan Boon Pin and his associates. The cannery was initially set up with the objective of manufacturing canned tropical fruits and sardine for the domestic market. In 1976, the company made a bond decision by venturing into the manufacturing of canned tuna for export market. The switch to the export market proved to be a right move and it propelled the Group into the forefront of the food processing industry.
